Man Overboard Notice

Notice to all competitors

Action in the event of a Man Overboard

In the light of recent man overboard incidents we would like to remind all competitors of rule 1.1 of the ISAF Racing Rules:

1.1 Helping Those in Danger
A boat or competitor shall give all possible help to any person or vessel in danger.

Competitors should not assume that others are coping with a MOB incident until contact has been established either by hailing or via VHF radio, and the person in the water is retrieved.

Redress will be applied to yachts altering course and standing by or taking action to help those in distress.

Those not going to the aid of yachts or crew in distress may be protested and disqualified from the race or the series.

Not withstanding your obligation to attend a distress situation, if time, circumstances and conditions are suitable, please make a note of the time you stopped and re-started racing so that suitable fair redress can be applied to your results.

We thank you all for your cooperation.
