Quiz Nights back with a flourish - 31/01/2012
Quiz nights on the last Friday in the month have been reinstated, starting off last Friday 27th January with a special event to raise funds for the RNLI. A great turnout of over 14 teams took part, coming from all parts of the marina, divers, berth holders, yacht racers, RNLI and residents, over 80 all together. A challenging set of questions set by Greg & Barbara Parish kept everybody thinking hard, with a raffle held in the interval. At the end of a very enjoyable evening, over £150 was raised for the RNLI, and nearly 40 meals were served and a good deal of money taken over the bar. Here’s to the next one, on 24th February.

Goodbye to Sean Long - 18/01/2012
The club has ended the contract with Mr Sean Long to supply members with food and drink. This change took immediate effect within the terms of the contract. The Club would like to thank Sean for all his services over the past 18 months and wish him every success for the future.

This will not affect the running of the Club; the clubroom will be open at the usual opening hours; food and drink will be served as normal.

The club, bar and kitchen will be run by the club, generally managed by the Director of House and volunteers. The core staff that have been with the club for the last 18 months are remaining. Kevin will organise the bar with weekly stock check for re-ordering. If supplies are needed at other times, these will be purchased from a cash & carry for which the club has a card.

Philip Ayton will look after the accounting and bookkeeping, including our VAT obligations.

The menu will change with a bar menu that will list food that will be available any time the club is open, i.e. toasted sandwiches, soup, scampi & chips, pizza etc. A chef will be employed for Friday/Saturday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes and events, offering fresh cooked food with menu changes weekly.

Theme food evenings will be introduced once or twice a month, i.e. all you can eat mussels & chips, curry nights etc.

Pricing levels will be set at proper yacht club levels with members receiving their standard discount on drink.

There will be a social event at least once a month, including themed parties, talks and monthly quiz.
